As a former Executive Assistant with over 25 years of experience, being organized just comes naturally to me.I was organizing my family, friends, colleagues and bosses long before I realized I could make a career from it.
Just a little over ten years ago now, I decided to take a chance with my experience, skill and ability to organize and started my own business. This led me down the path to becoming the savvy photo organizer that I am today. I picked up the love of photos from my dad and older brother. They always seemed to have a camera in front of their face which got me interested.
ALONG the way, I was not afraid to try many different avenues of work to find where my passion and niche lies. I have worked as both a corporate and residential organizer, and also coordinated many events in between. In 2011, at a conference in San Diego, I met Cathi Nelson, the Founder of APPO, the Association of Personal Photo Organizers. It was love at first site and photo organizing quickly became my specialty because of my passion for photos that I picked up from my Dad and older brother. I love that you can tell a family history through photographs. It became more apparent to me how important telling anyone's family story through photographs was when my Dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.
The Other Stuff:
My interest in organizing led to becoming a member in the Professional Organizers in Canada. I volunteered on the board of directors for 4 years and held more than one title at the same time. I even ‘organized’ the annual conferences at one point. I'm tired just thinking about it, but I enjoyed it every step of the way and am proud of the work I did and the wonderful people I met along the way. During my time as a member, I attained my Silver Leaf and more recently, my Gold Leaf status in the association.
I am also member of the Association of Personal Photo Organizers (APPO). In 2013, I won the award at the 7th Annual NAPO LA Organizing Awards in Los Angeles for Best Photo/Memorabilia Organizer. What a great surprise that was!
